An app a day can REALLY keep the doctor away?

In the past few months I have been reading a lot about new medical applications meant for patients.
A recent article  on the The New york Times  and the reportage on   BBC are very interesting and explanatory.
These tools can be particularly helpful for chronic diseases like high blood pressure , diabetes and asthma.  People are more interested in what is going on and seem to be more active, but can these apps really substitute the doctor?

The right answer is NO. To  really optimize the use of these fantastic things, physicians should  learn to use them too. They should be the one who suggest their patient to download them.  In this way they will be able to  monitor the condition of their patient and improve their overall health, not to speak about the time they would save.
Only in this way the patient  becomes the real BOSS of his/her health.
